Danuta Slusarska has been seconded as interim Secretary General of the Polyolefin Circular Economy Platform (PCEP) from Rud Pedersen Public Affairs, while recruitment is underway for a permanent replacement of outgoing Secretary General Venetia Spencer.
Ms. Slusarska’s appointment ensures that PCEP maintains its positive momentum at a critical moment for the industry’s transition to circularity. PCEP’s Steering Board has just confirmed an ambitious new work programme for 2022-23 and is also finalising a revision of the polyolefin industry‘s voluntary commitments.
Latest data released in PCEP’s 2021 Polyolefin Material Flow Study has shown that the industry’s voluntary pledge to increase the amount of recycled post-consumer polyolefin used in European products to 3 million tonnes a year by 2025 has been achieved ahead of schedule. The PCEP Steering Board is now aiming to extend this target significantly.
Board Chair Mark Vester said: “Achieving our voluntary pledge four years ahead of schedule shows the polyolefin industry’s deep commitment to delivering circularity. We would like to say an enormous thank-you to Venetia Spencer, who has led PCEP as Secretary General through these past formative years with great success.”
Vester continued: “We would also like to extend a very warm welcome to Danuta. All of us on the Steering Board are very much looking forward to working with her and the PCEP team members to continue the excellent progress PCEP has made over the past three years.”
Slusarska brings over a decade of public affairs experience working with different organisations on European environmental and waste policies, including guiding companies’ involvement with the Circular Plastics Alliance.
